Siem Reap Province: Under the esteemed authorization of His Excellency Hout Hak, Minister of Tourism, and through the excellent cooperation of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Cambodia and the Hunan International Business Vocational Institute, the Ministry of Tourism organized and launched a training course titled "Advanced Capacity Building for Chinese-Speaking Tour Guides in Cambodia." The course involves 50 trainees and will run for 10 days, from November 19 to November 28, 2025, in Siem Reap province.
The opening ceremony of this training course was held under the presidency of Her Excellency Vann Sereyroath, Undersecretary of State for the Ministry of Tourism and High Representative of His Excellency Hout Hak, Minister of Tourism; Her Excellency Yu Sophea, Member of the Siem Reap Provincial Council; and Her Excellency Zhong Jie, Economic and Commercial Counselor at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Cambodia.
Representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia and the Hunan International Business Vocational Institute highlighted the excellent cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, and the Hunan International Business Vocational Institute in developing human resources within the tourism sector. This development is facilitated through the aforementioned capacity-building training, specifically through dedicated efforts in preparing training documentation and selecting professional Chinese instructors with high-level vocational expertise to conduct presentations and share valuable knowledge and experiences with the trainees.
The training course primarily focused on the following key areas:
1. Overview of China
2. Sustainable Tourism Development and Ecotourism
3. Ethics and Professionalism in Tourism Services
4. Cross-Cultural Communication Awareness
5. Basic Chinese Vocabulary for the Tourism Sector
Taking the opportunity, Her Excellency Yu Sophea, Member of the Siem Reap Provincial Council, highly commended the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia for consistently providing excellent cooperation and dedicated focus on human capital development in the tourism sector of Cambodia and Siem Reap province. She affirmed that organizing this capacity-building training for Chinese-speaking tour guides directly addresses the need to provide warm and welcoming services for Chinese tourists in Siem Reap, which is the most attractive province for tourists in Cambodia.
Her Excellency Vann Sereyroth, Undersecretary of State for the Ministry of Tourism, also expressed her firm belief that the excellent cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and the Chinese Embassy will be further strengthened, particularly through continued support for organizing successive training courses in the future. For Cambodia, through the implementation of the Pentagonal Strategy Phase I, the nation has truly maintained and continues to nurture peace and further develop Cambodia's social and economic spheres, standing on a correct and realistic path toward achieving the vision's goal: “Cambodia 2050: Transforming Cambodia into a High-Income Country.” Her Excellency added that this training course serves as a mechanism to promote on-the-job training for trainees who already possess existing skills and knowledge. Furthermore, trainees who complete this course can share the acquired knowledge post-training, thereby contributing to the further growth of Cambodia's tourism sector.
It is worth noting that for the first nine months of 2025, Cambodia recorded approximately 4.38 million international tourists and 18.63 million domestic tourists, marking an increase of 53.3% compared to 2024. Among these, Chinese tourists ranked first, totaling 104,124 visitors, an increase of 51% compared to the same period in 2024. Currently, Cambodia has a total of 6,833 tour guides, of which 1,576 are Chinese-speaking guides serving tourists.
