Ministry of Tourism Launches the 8th Cohort of the Afternoon Session Professional Bakery Training Program
Under the high auspices of His Excellency Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, and the strategic guidance of Mr. Chuob Ratana, Director of the Tourism Professional Training Department, an official commencement ceremony for the 8th Cohort of the Professional Bakery Training Program was held on the afternoon of February 13, 2026. The event took place at the Meisan Excellence Center, Exchange Square, presided over by Mr. Chek Keo Rorn, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism Vocational Training, with participation from the leadership of Wilmar Marketing CLV (Cambodia), ministerial officials, and approximately 35 trainees.
This training initiative is the result of a formal collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and Wilmar Marketing CLV, designed to enhance technical competencies within the food production sector. Strengthening specialized bakery skills is a critical factor in meeting the sophisticated demands of both domestic and international tourists, thereby actively contributing to the qualitative advancement of service standards within Cambodia’s tourism industry.
For the 2026 fiscal year, the Ministry of Tourism and its corporate partners aim to provide comprehensive vocational training to a total of 120 youths and members of the general public. The curriculum encompasses 72 hours of combined theoretical instruction and practical application, covering 20 distinct pastry varieties. Upon completion, trainees are required to undergo a rigorous competency assessment to receive formal certification endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism.
To date, this collaborative framework has successfully completed seven previous cohorts of in-person training, yielding 198 graduates, alongside an extensive online training program that has benefited 2,710 learners.
