In the afternoon of 25 November 2015, the Secretariat of the HoKa Project Management Committee organized a technical meeting on “Reviewing the Competency Packages and Competency Standards for the National Tourism Qualifications—Certificates Levels 1, 2, and 3 in Front Office Operations.”
The meeting was attended by representatives from ETP Consultant, Swisscontact, national master trainers, national assessors, and technical officers from the Department of Tourism Professional Training—approximately 30 participants in total.
The meeting was formally opened with welcoming remarks by Mr. Chek Kearun, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism Professional Training, representing Mr. Choub Ratana, Director of the Department of Tourism Professional Training and Chair of the Secretariat of the Project Management Committee.
The meeting proceeded with a presentation by Ms. Saya Marata, Head of the Expert Team for the Development of Training Standards in Food Production, on “Developing National Competency Standards for the Tourism Sector and the Role of the Private Sector in the Development Process.”
Her presentation highlighted the key processes involved in developing national professional qualifications in tourism—Certificates Levels 1, 2, and 3—aligned with the Cambodian National Qualifications Framework. These mechanisms play an essential role in promoting high-quality, coordinated professional training.
Additionally, the meeting heard a presentation from technical officers on “Developing Core Competency Packages for the Tourism Sector: Front Office Operations, Levels 1–5”, outlining the process of preparing and compiling reference documents for the development of competency frameworks in front office operations, harmonized with both the National Qualifications Framework and the ASEAN Qualifications Framework.
As an outcome, the meeting engaged in discussions and collected inputs and recommendations aimed at further strengthening and improving the content of the core competency packages.
