The Ministry of Tourism Inaugurates Vocational Training Program in Bakery Arts
Under the high-level authorization of His Excellency Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, and following the directives of Mr. Chuob Ratana, Director of the Tourism Professional Training Department, a formal opening ceremony for a complimentary Bakery Training Program was convened on the morning of February 13, 2026. Held at the Meisan Excellence Center within the Exchange Square building in Phnom Penh, the ceremony was presided over by Mr. Sang Chanthou, Deputy Director of the Tourism Professional Training Department. The event was attended by executives from Wilmar Marketing CLV Cambodia, departmental officials, and approximately 35 initial trainees.
This educational initiative is a collaborative venture between the Ministry of Tourism and Wilmar Marketing CLV Cambodia. The primary objective is to enhance professional competencies in bakery and culinary production—a critical component of the hospitality value chain aimed at elevating the experience of domestic and international tourists. Such initiatives are instrumental in fortifying service quality standards within the tourism industry, thereby fostering sustainable sectoral growth.
For the 2026 academic cycle, the Ministry and Wilmar Marketing CLV intend to provide comprehensive training to a total of 120 individuals, including youth and members of the general public. The curriculum encompasses 72 hours of combined theoretical instruction and practical application, covering 20 distinct varieties of pastry and bakery products. Upon completion, participants must undergo a proficiency assessment to validate their skills and receive formal certification recognized by the Ministry of Tourism.
To date, this strategic partnership has successfully facilitated seven cohorts of in-person training, yielding 198 graduates, while simultaneously enhancing the knowledge of 2,710 participants through specialized online learning platforms.
