The Ministry of Tourism Promotes HoKa Training and the Recruitment of Trainees and Vocational Trainers for the Tourism Sector in Veal Veng District, Pursat Province
On February 11, 2026, under the high authorization of His Excellency Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, His Excellency Pak Sokhom, Secretary of State and Chairman of the HoKa Steering Committee, alongside Mr. Uy Sotheavy, Vice Governor of Pursat Province, presided over a dissemination and consultative workshop concerning the Hospitality Kampuchea (HoKa) training program. The fundamental objective of this assembly was the strategic recruitment of trainees and vocational trainers across key disciplines, including Front Office operations, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage Service, Barista skills, Culinary Arts, and Community-Based Tour Guiding.
The symposium, convened in Veal Veng District, Pursat Province, was attended by approximately 80 stakeholders, comprising delegates from the Ministry of Tourism, provincial and district administrations, the Swisscontact organization, and private sector representatives from tourism businesses and local communities.
The assembly acknowledged the rapid socio-economic evolution of Veal Veng, catalyzed by strategic infrastructure developments such as National Roads No. 55 and the recently completed National Road No. 10. These thoroughfares serve as critical logistical arteries connecting the northwestern and southwestern regions of Cambodia, traversing landscapes of significant ecological and aesthetic value. His Excellency the Secretary of State underscored that the fortification of service quality through professional vocational training is a fundamental prerequisite for sustaining tourism growth and ensuring international hospitality standards.
Furthermore, it is noteworthy that between 2017 and 2025, the HoKa program successfully upskilled 8,461 youths nationwide. This current initiative offers high-value training modules—estimated at a market value of $450 to $700 per individual—gratis. Such initiatives are instrumental in aligning regional labor capabilities with national development objectives and the evolving demands of the global tourism market.
