Capacity Building in Tourism Excellence: Certification of 77 National Trainers and Assessors in Alignment with ASEAN Standards
SIEM REAP – On January 29, 2026, Her Excellency Vann Sereyroth, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Tourism—representing His Excellency Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism—presided over the closing ceremony of the National Training of Trainers (ToT) program for Hotel Services. The event marked the graduation of 36 National Trainers and the certification of 41 National Master Assessors who successfully fulfilled the requirements of the ASEAN Competency Standards.
The specialized training, conducted from January 23 to 29, 2026, in Siem Reap province, offered tuition-free instruction focusing on the ASEAN Common Competency Standards for Tourism Professionals (ACCSTP). The curriculum specifically emphasized two critical pedagogical areas:
1. The strategic utilization of ASEAN Toolboxes for vocational instruction.
2. Methodologies for curriculum design, instructional planning, and advanced pedagogical techniques.
Within the framework of the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA), the Ministry of Tourism has previously facilitated the certification of 30 ASEAN Regional Trainers and Assessors directly through the ASEAN Secretariat. To date, this core group has expanded the national talent pool to 869 certified National Trainers and Assessors. This ongoing initiative serves as a cornerstone for human capital development, aimed at bolstering the resilience and global competitiveness of Cambodia’s tourism sector.
Furthermore, the ceremony included the official accreditation of two established educational institutions and one newly inaugurated vocational school, formally recognizing them as authorized Tourism Vocational Training Centers.
